The use of the word fenestrations differ by field. In architecture, it is used to refer to the layout and style of windows, doors, and glass panels on a building's outer walls. In botany, it is used to refer to the natural splits or holes that devlop in mature plant leaves. In medicine, it is used to refer to a natural or surgical opening in a body membrane, blood, or blood vessel. While I specialize in none of these things, I find it an interesting statement. A fenestration is an opening, an allowance.
