I am walking down a warm empty road, it must be midday. There are buildings on both sides of the road, but none in front. I see a man walking down the left side, and I suddenly feel cold. I keep walking though quicker than before. I know something is wrong with him. He begins to walk towards me and try to strike up a conversation but I know exactly where it will lead. I make a mad dash for a building but before I could open the door he grabs me.
Somehow I manage to rustle my way into a bar and he throws me to the floor, stunning me. I turn back with a terrified expression on my face. He grabs me by the hair and pulls me to my knees, turning me around and making me face the people of the bar before pressing a gun to the back of my head. I sob and shake and squeeze my eyes closed as he pulls the trigger. It's a blank. I wail even louder than before, I feel as if I'm going to puke. He does it again. And again. And again until nine bullets would've been fired into my skull. After the fourth bullet, I begin to calm down. My breathing steadies and I am swept away in thought. I still cry, and I still shake, but it is better than before. I'm sure the tenth time I would've been dead.
He pulls me to my feet and drags me to his car, throwing me into the backseat. I make no effort to escape. I'm not scared anymore, I even want him to like me. We stop at a corner store and I am ordered to stay in the car. He can't see me from where he’s at, but I do as I'm told. We go to another corner store and I am sent to run an errand. I could have run away, but I didn't. Again, I do as I'm told. I don't want to run away.
When I get back to the car, there is a girl in the passenger's seat. I assume her to be the man's girlfriend. She's quietly yelling at him, saying I would run away. I must've surprised them both judging by the look on their faces. They make fun of me, calling me submissive and weak. Saying he didn't like me, that I'm ugly. I don't like her, I'm jealous.
We drove to the fair and when I got out, I asked if I could get a soda. He says something about food and sends me off with some money to get a soda. When the sun begins to set, we drive to Mom's house. I am told to get out and grab something before we leave. When I walk in, Mom is in the living room. I say hi and that I need to get something. She nods.
I head to my room and sit down in my chair. I don't need to do anything. Why would I listen? Why should I obey? I force myself to think rationally, physically and mentally fighting the urge to go running back. I rest my head in my hands and wake abruptly.
